Seçkin Yaşar (1949 -   )

Seçkin Yaşar was born in Malatya in 1949. He completed his university education at Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts, Department of Graphic Arts. Yaşar, who participated in all cinema-related events during his years at university, founded the cinema branch with his friends. He gave cinema lessons at Fatih Community Center. Later, Yaşar worked as a graphic designer in an advertising agency and took part in the movie "Yorgun Savaşçı" (1979) as an assistant to director Halit Refiğ.  Yaşar continued as Halit Refiğ's assistant for 11 years. Yaşar started directing for the first time in 1992 with the movie "Sarı Tebessüm". He also wrote the script of the film. “Yellow Smile” received the “Best Promising Screenwriter” (Sercan Yaşar) award at the 5th Ankara Film Festival. He shot his second movie, "Sevgilim Istanbul", in 1999. The script of the film was written by Seçkin Yaşar, Nedim Gürsel and İzzet Yaşar. The movie "Sevgilim Istanbul" was about the love between a Greek female journalist and a Turkish journalist.
