Subject: Fahriye, a poor girl, is in love with Mustafa from the neighborhood. However, with the force of her family, she is married to a rich jeweler from Erzincan. Her husband sends her back to her father on the grounds that she is not a virgin. Fahriye, who goes after her old love Mustafa, stabs Mustafa during an argument. When he serves his sentence and gets out of prison, he gets a job and now has a say in his own life.

In the film, women's issues are discussed within the conflict of traditional and modern. The film's protagonist, Fahriye's process of becoming a subject and gaining her freedom is told. The film deals with the problems experienced by women on issues such as domestic violence and polygamy. It presents economic freedom as a solution.
