Handan İpekçi (1956 - )
Handan İpekçi was born in Ankara in 1956. He completed his undergraduate education in the Radio and Television Department of Gazi University, School of Press and Broadcasting. İpekçi did an internship at TRT Istanbul television in 1986. After graduating from university, İpekçi started working at TRT and worked as an assistant in many productions until 1993. He later left TRT because he wanted to direct. With the support of the Ministry of Culture, he directed the documentary "Kemençenin Türküsü" (1993). In 1994, he shot the movie "My Father is in the Military", the script of which he wrote and directed. İpekçi also produced the movie "My Father is in the Military". This film, which tells the story of three children whose families were detained in the September 12 coup, received the "Promising New Director" and "Promising New Screenwriter" awards at the 7th Ankara Film Festival in 1995.
In 2001, he took the director's chair for the second time with the movie "Big Man Little Love", for which he wrote and produced the script. He wrote and directed the films "Hidden Faces" (2007) and "Çınar Ağaç" (2011). While the movie "Hidden Faces" told the story of a woman who had to be killed due to custom, the story of a retired female teacher in need of care was discussed in the movie "Çınar Ağaç".
