Yasemin Özkent was born in Gaziantep. He graduated from Marmara University, Faculty of Communication, Public Relations and Promotion Department undergraduate program in 2011. He worked at Marmara University Communication Coordinatorship in 2009-2010. He hosted a culture and art program at the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation in 2010-2011. He completed his master's degree in 2014 and his doctorate in 2019. He received his associate professorship in the field of Communication Studies Science/Art in 2022. Özkent has published various international articles on communication studies, gender, new media, television series, media research and psychoanalytic theory. A significant part of his articles published in internationally respected journals were deemed worthy of the TÜBİTAK international scientific publications incentive award. Yasemin Özkent, who is the academic editor of PLOS ONE journal (SSCI-Q1), serves as a scientific referee for various internationally respected journals. She currently continues her studies on cinema, gender, new media and television at Selçuk University, Faculty of Communication, Department of Radio, Television and Cinema.​
